ASCII versions of some new trailers

Some time ago I wrote an small XNA-app with 2 custom shaders. One of them would re-render each frame of a playing video as ASCII characters, based on the luminance of the image. And the ASCII characters would be rendered in full lime green color, to really evoke the feeling of the old monitor I started out with back in the days…

For fun I upgraded the project to VS2013 and decided to ASCII-fy some recent trailers I found on YouTube. Picking trailers removes the issue with Copyright-strikes against the YT account that series and movies would land me…

ASCII Wars (Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser)

ASCII Wars (Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2)

Pixels Official Trailer #1 (2015) – In ASCII – Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage

All of these clips was re-rendered in 1080p quality, which increases the viewing quality and allows one to still see what is going on. Only note is that the MP4-re-pack of the render and then the YT upload totally crushes the color-depth of the lime as well as causing some imprecision that can be observed with the characters drawn not showing up as sharp as the actual output was. So to truly appreciate the result one has to see it ‘for real’. But the YT upload shows a hint of the end result at least. Please make sure to play it in 1080p quality.
